Let the world rush on by.
Let it scream for attention.
You’ve found something deeper,
a connection that doesn’t need to be loud to be felt,
doesn’t need to be seen to be real.
It’s in the weight of a heartbeat,
the quiet trust that says—this matters.
This is where Love lives.
An Open Hand
Last night, I took the dog out for a walk, just like I do every evening. But something unexpected happened. I found this tiny bird on the ground, just sitting there, shaking. She looked so fragile, and I could tell right away something was wrong. It was her wing—it didn’t seem to be working right. She couldn’t fly.
I didn’t really think about it; I just scooped her up gently. I didn’t want to leave her out there, vulnerable. So, I brought her home, made a little makeshift cage for her, and gave her some sweetened water and a piece of apple. I figured it was better than nothing, just something to keep her comfortable through the night.
When I checked on her this morning, she was feeling a lot better. She seemed happy to see me—chirping away like she knew I was there to help. Her wing looked fine, too, which was such a relief. I can’t even tell you how good it felt to see her like that.
So, I took her back to where I found her. I held her in my hand, and she just sat there… completely at ease… as I walked. We’re talking several blocks here, and this little thing seemed perfectly content. It wasn’t scared or trying to fly away. It just perched there on my hand like we were old friends out for a stroll together. It was surreal, you know? Like she was content, like she knew she was safe. Eventually, she hopped off to the branch of a little tree.
As I walked back home, I felt this deep sense of gratitude. It was such a small thing, really, but it meant something to me. Maybe she’ll come back one day, who knows? But whether she does or not, I’m just glad I was there for her when she needed it. It reminded me that sometimes, all you need is a little kindness, a moment of care, and everything can change.

Fleeting Grace
I held a fragile heartbeat in my hands today, felt the trust of a tiny creature who needed nothing more than a moment of kindness. And in that pause, that breath between the rush of everyday life, I glimpsed something profound.
We’re all just looking for a safe place to land, aren’t we? A gentle touch when we’re hurting, a moment of peace to gather our strength. In helping this little bird, I was reminded of our shared vulnerability, our universal need for compassion.
There’s a reason our paths crossed… Or not… Maybe it was to remind me of the power in small acts of love. Or perhaps it was a nudge from the universe, showing me that even in a world that can feel overwhelming, I have the capacity to make a difference.
As I watched this little bird hop back on a tree, I felt a surge of something pure. Hope? Joy? Gratitude? Maybe all of these. A reminder that healing is possible, that freedom is beautiful, and that sometimes, being a safe harbor for another soul is the most meaningful thing we can do.
I don’t know if I’ll see my little feathered friend again. But I know this encounter has left an imprint on my heart. A reminder to keep my hands open, my heart warm, and my eyes attuned to the small miracles that surround us every day.
Isn’t that what life’s all about? Those fleeting connections, those moments of grace, that remind us of our shared humanity and our place in this vast, interconnected world.
I’m grateful for this tiny teacher, for the lesson wrapped in feathers and trust…
