BLACK MISSION FIG JAM / GLAZE

Zesty and delicious this Black Fig jam is one of the staple items in my fridge. I use it as a regular jam and for glazing vegetables and fruits before or after baking.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 10 tbsp
Total Calories: 77kcal
Ingredients
  • 2 cups figs (soaked*)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • fig soaking water

Instructions
  • Remove figs from the water and chop them into pieces for easy blending. Keep the fig soaking water aside.
  • Add figs into a blender (regular or immersion blender will work) with sea salt, lemon juice, nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of fig soaking water**
  • Blend until desired consistency is reached.
  • Store in the refrigerator for several weeks***
Notes
*Soak dry figs in filtered or spring water for 4 hours.
**If you’re have difficulties blending you can add the water that remains after soaking 1 tbsp at a time;
***For longer storage you can freeze it for up to 3 month
Prep time doesn’t include soaking time (4 hours).
