“Momma, you are defended by heroes, you are surrounded by heroes, and you are my hero!” – I said- “You are an inspiration to so many! There are so many people praying for you and all the Ukrainian people right this moment. In so many languages! You are Love; You are Light. I love you so much!”

Julia

This morning, I had to compose myself before calling my mom in Kyiv (Ukraine). I had a hard time dealing with anger and anguish. Seeing and hearing the most terrifying first-count encounters coming from Ukraine are devastating. What kind of beings would target clearly marked children hospitals, kindergartens, busses with women and kids, apartment buildings? I had to recompose myself today…. It took me a while….

I had a long shower, cried, did some breathing yoga, and turned to your comments on my Facebook posts… To your kind words of Love and encouragement, you sent to the Ukrainian people, my family, and me. Some of the comments were so lovely and addressed to my mom. I picked them out (with names attached) onto a separate sheet and translated them all so that I could send your Love to her.

My mom seemed a bit tired today. She shared with me her list of accomplished daily chores and told me that the weather was so lovely she couldn’t resist going for a little walk around the block with Zinochka (her neighbor).

“The spring is here! It is beautiful and tender, as always” -she said with muffled excitement and a gentle smile-“Let me send you some pictures I took.”

My eyes swelled with tears at first look at the pictures. They touched me so deeply! (I’m attaching those pictures to the post, so you to can see for yourself.) The ability to witness the beauty of creation and the tenderness of Life in the middle of devastating destruction is what makes us Human Beings.

She was quite subdued today. I told her about the story I shared with you guys and asked if she wanted me to read the lovely comments addressed to her.

“Ok”-she nodded.

I proceeded. She listened attentively. Sometimes she smiled; some comments made her laugh… Several times, she interrupted me saying, “Oh, no, no… that is not addressed to me. I’m not doing anything. Anything special. I just Am.”

And then her eyes swelled with tears as she told me with immense gratitude and admiration stories of her neighbors and friends, humbling herself into the immensity of experience.

“Momma, you are defended by heroes, you are surrounded by heroes, and you are my hero!” – I said- “You are an inspiration to so many! There are so many people praying for you and all the Ukrainian people right this moment. In so many languages! You are Love; You are Light. I love you so much!”

She got up and laughed. She feels very uncomfortable when complimented. (I get it from her). Ok, she said it’s time to do my homework…

But that is another story. I’ll share it with you guys later.

For now, I want you all to know that I’m so, so grateful to all of you. For every prayer risen, every well-being wish sent, and your all-encompassing Love and compassion. I’m crying as I’m writing it now because it is hard for me to express in words my immense gratitude to you, my fellow Human beings, with a beating heart.

Thank you for letting me share, for listening, for hearing. 🙇🏼‍♀️ 🙏🏻

I made a video about it 🤗
