The Journey of a Lifetime

I want to share with you a poem that I wrote to my One and Only (at least in this lifetime), to my faithful companion of over 50 years – the Body of mine. With deep appreciation, I’ve come to realize just how much my body has been there for me through thick and thin. How protective and wise it was, and thankfully still is. From surviving countless accidents and food poisoning to enduring environmental hazards, including radiation exposure from the Chornobyl disaster, Lyme disease, cancer, chemotherapy, and so on, my body has been my constant companion and my rock.

So I wrote this poem as a tribute to the lifelong love affair that I have with my body. It’s not always an easy partnership – I have my moments of selfishness and stubbornness, and I don’t always give my body the care and attention that it deserves. But through it all, my body has been there, gently whispering clues and urging me to slow down and take care of myself.

Often I need a reminder to take a moment to appreciate the incredible vessel that carries me through life. I hope this poem resonates with you.

"to my one and only" poem from "The Grief's Tender Heart", By Julia Delaney

Through it all, my body has never given up on me, always ready to serve and support me. I owe it a lot and I’m committed to nurturing this lifelong love affair with care, attention, and gratitude.

Our bodies are always talking to us. They tell us when we need to slow down, when we need to rest, and when we need to celebrate. They’re not just vehicles carrying us from A to B, they’re companions on this journey of life. It’s about time we really listened

We often forget that our bodies aren’t just there to serve us, they’re part of us. They experience every high and every low alongside us. They’re resilient, forgiving, and are always ready for the next chapter. It’s a relationship worth nurturing, a friendship worth deepening
